Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS)

ETAP Grid? Solution for Distribution Systems

Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS)

Increase hosting capacity while maintaining grid reliability from modeling to operations

ETAP DERMS™ is an integrated module within ETAP Grid™ Solution for Distribution Systems used for network planning (ETAP DNA) and real-time grid operations (ETAP ADMS). ETAP DERMS integrates with ETAP Microgrid EMS hardware and software control system providing a true end-to-end modeling, analysis, monitoring, optimization and control solution.

ETAP DERMS highly depends on the specific location (grid connection) of each asset. Leveraging the common ETAP geospatial network model utilized for network planning and real-time operations (SCADA, DMS and OMS), ETAP DERMS taps into smart inverters, storage, combined heat and power units (CHPs) and other distributed generation to improve grid resiliency, power quality, and enable ancillary services.

ETAP DERMS includes integrated hosting capacity analysis network planners. Feeder hosting capacity not only determines the traditional maximum hosting capacity but also the individual location of hosting capacity and allows for “what-if” simulation with distribution automation devices for planned capacity relief.

Utilizing distributed architecture for model management and simulation, ETAP DERMS grid management manipulates real and reactive unbalanced power flows in real-time along individual distribution feeders including volt/var management, optimal power flow and locational capacity relief to regulate grid conditions and minimize voltage excursions, blackouts and power outages.
